パープルーム大学開校！

 

SNSを通じて全国から集まった若者が共同生活を営む私塾パープルーム予備校は、

ネット空間から絵画空間、批評空間までを行き来する古さと新しさをあわせ持つ

美術の共同体「パープルーム」の活動拠点です。

 

本展は数百点に及ぶ様々なタイプの作品やその副産物、関連資料によってパープルームを網羅的に紹介します。

また通常の展覧会と異なり、会期中はパープルームの作家たちが会場で生活し、何かを生み出したり、

突発的なレクチャーが催されたりと絶え間なく何かが起こり続けます。ワタリウム美術館がパープルーム大学と化す二週間。

 

 

A New Semester Starts at Parplume University!

Initiated on social media, Parplume is an art collective of young artists from across the country. The
members occupy physical and virtual platforms for their practices ranging from painting to
peer-reviewing. The space which they call “a private preparatory school” is an interface between a
traditional and a contemporary art making.

 

The exhibition “Parplume University and Yoichi Umetsu” at WATARI-UM provides the audience
with a comprehensive view of Parplume through the diverse ranges of artwork and related
documentation. As opposed to conventional exhibitions, the exhibition space also becomes a living
and production site where events such as lecture by the members will constantly take place. During
the two weeks, the museum is entirely transformed into Parplume University.

梅津庸一そしてパープルーム

 

新しい絵画様式や表現形式を提出すべき芸術院が破綻してしまった現在、梅津庸一は絵画を舞台に他者を自らに憑依させ美術という制度が生起した地点を生き直す。しかし、それは本気なのかそれとも近代の偶像を嘲笑しているか判別し難い。

 

また、自宅でパープルーム予備校と呼ばれる私塾を開きSNSなどを介して全国から若者を集め、共同生活を営みながら美術と共同体の新しい形を模索している。梅津が数年間老人介護施設の夜勤の職員として働きながら練り上げたパープルーム予備校は単なる美術の実験場ではなく家族やジェンダー、老いという問題に立ち入っている。

そんなパープルームがワタリウム美術館を2週間占拠し、「パープルーム大学」を開校する。パープルーム大学とは展覧会場、学校、アトリエ、生活空間を兼ねる場である。

 

かつて黒田清輝は日本に「構想画」という概念を根付かせようとしたがあまり上手くいかなかった。そもそも構想画という語に対応する概念が西洋には存在するのかすらあやしい。今、構想画があり得るとすればそれは一点の達成としてではなく出自や生息地の違うものたちの生態系の緩やかな連帯や継ぎ目を含めた地勢図としてバラバラなまま統合され出現する。

 

パープルームとは構想画である。

 

 

 

Yoichi Umetsu and Parplume

Today the Art Academy no longer generates new styles or expressions in painting. Yoichi Umetsu retraces the past when
Art was rst established as a system, incarnating himself into eminent painters from the time. The incarnation however
leaves an ambivalent feeling — whether it holds a serious purpose or solely means to mock the modern predecessors.

Umetsu founded Parplume Preparatory School, a private school for a group of young artists who are invited through social
media to search for a new form in art and collectivity while living together. Parplume being developed by Umetsu while
working night shifts at the elderly house is a place for experimenting new art forms as well as dwelling on issues relating to
family, gender and aging. For this occasion, Parplume occupies WATARI-UM for two weeks, opening its door as the
Parplume University. Parplume University encompasses all the functionality of an exhibition space, a school, a studio as
well as a living space.

Seiki Kuroda, who spent his early career in France made an attempt to establish kosoga in Japan — painting that
communicates national ideology through human gures. Nevertheless, his attempt did not achieve success, and it even
seems suspicious that the original concept of kosoga actually exists in Western culture in the rst place. Kosoga in the
contemporary context, if we assume it exists, refers not to a point of achievement but to the assembled pieces of
topography that embody the nexus of all organisms from diverse origins. It takes form as a collective of differences, and
therefore Parplume is kosoga.

A solo exhibition of Yoichi Umetsu “Optic Nerve and Mirror”
The foor displays his self-portrait and video work Exercise in Preparation for Spring.

 

3rd Floor:
Parplume - “Parplume’ s Anthill”
The space offers a multi-sensory experience.

 

2nd Floor:
Parplume - “Parplume is Kosoga”
The second floor encompasses paintings and documentations.
The space also becomes a living space and classroom.

 

Basement:
Parplume - “Love, Mongolian Spot, Decorative Painting in Room 4”

プロフィール『パープルーム』

 

 

2013年に誕生した絵画に特化した美術の共同体。神奈川県相模原市にある私塾「パープルーム予備校」をその活動拠点とし、

そこには多くの入塾希望者、作家や批評家、研究者などが訪れる。

ウェブサイト「パープルームHP」、移動式の画廊「パープルームギャラリー」、機関誌の役割を果たす「パープルームペーパー」、

関連施設の「ゼリー状のパープルーム容器」、「パープルームプーポンポン」他に「パープルームクッキング」、

「パープルミーティング」など。パープルームとは様々な水準の活動、事柄をまとめあげ横断する運動体の総称である。

パープルームという語の由来は諸説あり、外光派(紫派)の部屋、バーチャルな馬、地球物理学のスーパープルームなど、

未だに謎に包まれている。

 

 

 

Parplume

 

Established in 2013, Parplume is an art collective specializing in painting. Based in “Parplume Preparatory School” located in
Sagamihara Kanagawa,
the collective receives many visitors including future students, artists, critics and researchers. Their virtual platforms — ocial
website “Parplume HP,” a traveling gallery “Parplume Gallery,” online periodical “Parplume Paper,” “Jelly-jo no Parplume
Yoki,” “Parplume Poo Pon Pon,” “Parplum Cooking,” “Parplume Meeting,” support the collective’ s diverse activities.
Parplume is a general term to describe a moving body that engages and traverses the various levels of aair and activities. The
origin of the term has numerous theories — a room of gaiko-ha / murasakiha (pleinaivisme), virtual horse, a geophysical term
‘super plume.’The truth is still veiled in mystery.
